Janice started her formal career in the early 1990s, qualifying,
teaching & working within the arenas of dance, fitness, nutrition & equestrianism.
Quickly gaining an
enviable reputation, & overtime suitable experience, a modest but very successful
small business was juggled alongside parenting & part-time Higher Education
evening & distance learning. Successful completion of her first degree allowed Janice to add a new
dimension to her teaching portfolio that of Literacy, Numeracy & English
Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for adults in the Post 16 Lifelong
Learning sector.
Passionate, but tempered, Social
Entrepreneur traits began to emerge as Janice taught & voluntarily supported
non-traditional learners - many from deprived communities & many dealing with
societal issues such as; third generation unemployed families; parents, including young mums, with children
who had additional educational needs (many were undiagnosed); offenders or those at risk
of reoffending; or simply adults who had lived 40 or 50 years believing they
were unable to learn as this was the repeated message they heard as a young
student.
Janice was becoming increasingly aware of ‘unhelpful &/or short-term’ targets, processes & ways of working which may have worked historically, but
which were now at risk of creating debilitating environments for individuals. Her Social Entrepreneur traits became evermore visible, as did her ability to influence, as she was drawn more and more into senior management roles.
Increasingly offered, accepting & subsequently
achieving positive & measurable outcomes in a variety of sectors, (Third
sector & Local Government -particularly Education, Health & Social
Care) Janice’s outcome focused, person-centred style began to be inter-mixed with
formal project, programme & portfolio management. This has resulted in excellent communication
& governance architecture, which enables an individual’s voice to be heard,
for the benefit of the individual, the organisation or the community,
The initial creation & registration activity of Vidacom CIC encouraged Janice
to reflect, record & share her personal beliefs & professional style. She deliberated for some time & a flurry
of communications with former colleagues & memories ensued.
Janice
continues to be highly regarded for her energy & tenacity when working in
complex &/or sensitive environments. 360-degree feedback from colleagues & external partners recently
described Janice as:
...’A deliverer, energetic &
different’...
...’Knowledgeable, engaging & an out
of the box thinker’...
Janice holds a 2:1 BA Hons degree in
Business & Management (with 1:1 awards in Strategic Management &
Strategic Management Accounting) & Qualified Teacher Status, (QTS) in the
Post 16 Lifelong Learning Sector. She is also Prince2, P30 & Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) qualified, & an active committee member for the
Norwich Chapter of the Association of Project Management (APM).
Looking ahead Janice is committed to continuing to combine her Social Entrepreneur values with her professional skills & very much looks forward to discussing new opportunities.
